This November 25, we want to share Small Business Saturday® with you! It’s a holiday shopping tradition that celebrates small businesses like ours. And it wouldn’t be a celebration without our members like you joining us.

We are asking our members to send us your deals or specials running on Small Business Saturday to communications@sarasotachamber.com and we’ll keep a running list of our members participating below and share them on social media!

So mark your calendar for November 25 — the Saturday after Thanksgiving — and get ready to Shop Small® with us. Grab a friend or family member and stop by to support our local small business members participating on the big day.
You can help get the word out and celebrate Small Business Saturday by using #shopsmallsrq or buylocalbuychamber on Facebook and all your social networks.

PLUS, while your out and about on Small Business Saturday, take a picture with the local chamber member and send it to us!

Now, I’m not suggesting that you’re going to find a cheap television, let alone any television, in Burns Court in downtown Sarasota, St. Armands Circle, Village of the Arts in Bradenton or any of our other local shopping hubs.
You will ultimately have to go somewhere like Best Buy for that, and a portion of those dollars will end up back at a corporate office somewhere else.

But if you catch yourself looking at snarky or funky gifts in Target, you can probably find something equally amusing at Treat Boutique in Burns Court, T.Georgiano’s Boutique in downtown Sarasota or The Clever Cup in Gulf Gate.

If you’re stocking up on things like lotions, scrubs or soaps, lolablueis a hand-crafted local alternative to something like Bath and Body Works. That money goes back to North Port, not to its corporate competitor’s headquarters in Ohio.

The Sarasota Tea Shop in Gillespie Park can provide anything you might buy at Teavana, and Sarasota Candle at the downtown Saturday Farmer’s Market could easily challenge anything you’d find at Yankee Candle.

Armel Jewelers has been on St. Armands Circle for 50 years, and they’ve got you covered if you’re looking to put something sparkly under the Christmas tree. Treats from Banyan Tree Chocolate in Sarasota’s Palmer Plaza could keep any sweets you’re planning on giving a little more local than New York-based Godiva.

Unless you’re super locally savvy, the bulk of that $967 you’re expected to spend will ultimately go somewhere else.
But this Saturday is about remembering that it doesn’t necessarily have to.
And that our local businesses are hoping for happy holidays, too.
